A new business with more to offer.
Sophie had a polished Instagram presence and a private beauty studio, but no website. She needed somewhere to explain her treatments, show the quality of her work and help people take the next step.
SoSo Nails & Beauty is a hyperlocal business serving the small town of Portishead. The audience was people nearby looking for nail and beauty treatments. The website needed to make the business easy to discover and give those visitors the information to feel confident enquiring.
The approach was straightforward: identify what would benefit this business most, then make that information as clear and easy to find as possible.
- The business
- A private, one-to-one beauty studio
- The audience
- Local clients in Portishead
- The project
- First website, five-page build
- The work
- Planning, copy, bespoke design, development and SEO foundations
Let people picture the experience.
The website introduces the calm, personal setting before someone books. Real studio photography, soft colours and a spacious layout help communicate the care behind Sophie's treatments.

A real setting
Photographs of the studio show where appointments happen and give first-time visitors something familiar to arrive to.
A clear introduction
The opening explains the service, Portishead location and one-to-one approach, so visitors can quickly see whether it suits them.
A consistent feel
The gentle colour palette, typography and generous spacing support the quiet, considered experience the business offers.
Answer the questions before the enquiry.
Potential clients need to know what Sophie offers, what a treatment includes and how much it costs. Those details are organised into clear treatment groups, with prices and durations where relevant.
For example, the nail section explains what is included and separates standard and luxury options. Visitors can compare them without piecing the information together from social posts.
Repeated booking links give someone a direct route to enquire when they have found a suitable treatment. Existing clients also have one place to check the current options.

Make it personal. Make it easy to enquire.
For a private beauty studio, the person delivering the treatment matters. Sophie's introduction, experience, photographs of her work and client reviews help visitors get to know the business.
The appointment page then offers a choice of phone, email or a form. Treatment interest and a preferred date help Sophie understand the request before replying. Visitors can ask about availability and arrange their appointment directly with her.
The results
A local business, discovered through Google.
Over the reported six months, Google Search recorded 327 clicks through to the website and 7.22K impressions. For a hyperlocal business focused on one small town, those are opportunities to reach people looking for relevant services.

SEO foundations in the build. The website clearly connects the business, treatments and Portishead location through its content and page structure.
No ongoing SEO package. These results came from the five-page website without a separate programme of ongoing SEO work.
The report's average position is 7.6. This is an average across the report; positions for individual searches vary. Search clicks are visits from Google, with enquiries described separately through Sophie's feedback.
Performance, measured alongside the design.
The website uses lightweight HTML, CSS and JavaScript. A desktop Lighthouse test recorded a 0.8-second Largest Contentful Paint, with no layout shift in that run.
- 100 out of 100
- Desktop performance / 100
- 90 out of 100
- Mobile performance / 100
Measured on 5 November 2026. Desktop: local Lighthouse 13.6.0 test. Mobile: Google PageSpeed Insights, using an emulated Moto G Power with Slow 4G throttling. Scores can vary with test conditions.
More useful for Sophie and her clients.
Sophie has told Sem that the website has had a noticeable impact on new enquiries and made things easier for existing clients.
That feedback supports the purpose of the project: helping people discover the business, understand the treatments and get in touch. Exact enquiry or booking figures have not been recorded for this case study.
For an owner building a local service business, a clear five-page website can give both new and returning customers a useful place to start.
“The website looks fantastic, clean, modern and is very easy for my clients to navigate.”
