I didn’t start with code. I started with business.
My name’s Sem, and before becoming a developer I spent five years building an online clothing brand from scratch with no funding, no shortcuts, and a lot of figuring things out along the way.
I launched it with just £500 and grew it to $1,000,000 in sales, 14,000+ units sold, and nearly a million website visitors - all from my bedroom. It wasn’t a huge company, but every bit of progress came from persistence, creativity, and learning on the job.
I’ve felt the pressure of making every pound count. I know what it’s like to build something from nothing and want every part of it, including the website, to actually work.
I’ve also been on the other side: dealing with people who over-promise and under-deliver, turning what should’ve been help into hassle. That experience shaped how I work today.
When I had to close that brand in 2023, I decided to re-skill as a software developer.
Now, through SemDev, I help small business owners get an online presence that truly does their business justice. I take pride in quality, discipline, and making sure every client feels looked after. I only want happy, satisfied clients - that’s how I measure success.
